OMG! I heard this from my friend, who owns an upmarket apartment in KL. I have an apartment in a similar apartment in KL CBD ... here's what she sent to me. The scam doesn't make sense!!! But this is a real! What went wrong? Has anyone heard of this scam before?

SCAMMED!!!!!
Friday 22nd Jan 2010, I get a call from the Management office.. they tell me that I've purchased 2 aircons and that the vendor is waiting for payment, having delivered the aircons to the condo. ... Huh?? I never ordered anything!!!

After much confusion, I call JN, who's mom (Mrs T) is helping me out with the condo... Mrs T goes to the management office, and calls my tenant.... this is what she finds out:

According to the tenant, a Mrs Lee, who claims to be the landlord, had popped by to ask if the air conditioning was sufficient, and if not, she would purchase new units to be installed. Some time later, an aircon vendor (Vendor A) arrives, removes the existing aircon, pays the tenant 1000. Another Aircon vendor (Vendor B) arrives with 2 new aircons, and installs one. Tenant requested him to leave, as she needed to go out, and told him that the landlord would pay him for the 2 aircons. (I think this is when I got the call from the mgmt office)

Perplexed by the entire situation, Mrs T invites Tenant, Vendor A and Vendor B for a quick meet up. At the scene of the meeting, Vendor A and Vendor B identifies that Tenant was the Mrs Lee that purchase AND traded in the aircons! Tenant denies that it was her, and at last says that perhaps it is her sister....!!!!! (Huh? dumb or what?)... That entire story about Mrs LEE.. NEVER existed.... The Tenant is a scammer!

Mrs G then takes the Tenant into the condo unit, and finds out that the Samsung LCD TV had also been removed from the apartment.

MY TENANT IS A FUCKING CON ARTIST! SHE STOLE MY TV and ATTEMPTED TO STEAL MY AIR CON!!!! BLURDY HELL! What next? Fridge? Washer? Fixtures??

Mrs T demanded for Tenant to return the TV, and the 1000bucks that she got from trading in my air con. Tenant insists that her company will pay for it. Mrs T and Mr T bring her to her office.... Tenant decides to go to the toilet. Mrs T follows.... She then makes a few calls on her cellphone, and tells Mr and Mrs T that she needs to get the money from her personal account, in another place. Mr T drives her to the next destination and again, she needs the toilet... this time she slips Mr G.

Blurdy con artist.

She's busted. Mrs T reports the situation to the police....

Meanwhile, we're here wondering what logic this scam might be.... I have 2 months of deposit and 1 month of advance rent from the tenant. That's a total of approx RM10k. The TV cost RM1.5k, and she has RM1k from the sale of my air-con unit (which I still can get back from the vendor, as the vendor is holding on to stolen goods). All in all, I have a nett profit of RM8.5k from this con artist... and thereafter, I would think that she hence lost RM8k (or more) from this entire fiasco... and caused a fucking lot of mess for the aircon vendors and Mrs T, and myself!

So here you are, the details of this Con Artist Tenant, picture available as well
